This is Not a Lyric Post

It would be pretty hypocritical of my to post lyrics here since I’ve spent a goodly amount of typing criticizing others for doing the same. My contention is 1) if I cared about the lyrics, I would look at a site dedicated to such things and 2) the lyrics themselves cannot possibly explain exactly what you meant to convey. If they can, then for utilitarian reasons you should be executed for lack of original contribution to the universe.
Suffice it to say, I heard a song that struck a chord (pun intended) with me.
Recently introduced into my overwhelming universe of things to worry about in passing has been the thought that my brother might be an idiot. I know, he’s really smart, and I imagine that’s why I only worry in passing. The thing is that he is just as intrigued by military culture and technology as the average teenage boy. My worry is that it may ripen into an actual desire to be in the military.
I’ve thought about what I might do. Physical restraint is not out of the question. Or I might load a gun and hand it to him, punch him in the face and say something sardonic like “why don’t you at least kill someone who injured you before you go off killing people you don’t know?”
Of course, this is all completely wasted energy, but, if nothing else, it will make for great fiction someday.
